When is Genshin Impact’s Anniversary in 2026?
The Genshin Impact anniversary date in 2026 was September 28, 2026. This date marked six years since the popular open-world role-playing game launched worldwide in 2020.
The game, developed by HoYoverse, has built a large community through its fantasy world, memorable characters, elemental combat, and ongoing story. Every September, players look forward to anniversary celebrations and possible free rewards.
The official Genshin Impact website published a commemorative video titled Teyvat Adventures Commemorative Video: 6th Anniversary Letter on September 28, 2026, confirming the sixth-anniversary milestone.

Since today’s date is October 17, 2026, this year’s anniversary has already passed. However, players can still enjoy regular game updates, events, character banners, and other activities that HoYoverse announces throughout the year.
Why September 28 Is Important
September 28 is the game’s original global launch date. HoYoverse announced that Genshin Impact would launch worldwide on September 28, 2020, across PlayStation 4, iOS, Android, and PC.
Genshin Impact
That date gives players a yearly milestone to celebrate their adventures in Teyvat.
The anniversary is also an opportunity for the community to reflect on new regions, story chapters, playable characters, and other changes introduced over the years.
When Is the Next Genshin Impact Anniversary?
The next Genshin Impact anniversary is expected on September 28, 2027. It will mark seven years since the game’s original global release.
Players who missed the 2026 celebration can prepare for the next one by keeping up with official announcements and saving resources for upcoming character banners.
Here is a quick anniversary calendar:
| Year | Anniversary | Milestone |
| 2020 | September 28 | Global launch |
| 2021 | September 28 | First anniversary |
| 2022 | September 28 | Second anniversary |
| 2023 | September 28 | Third anniversary |
| 2024 | September 28 | Fourth anniversary |
| 2025 | September 28 | Fifth anniversary |
| 2026 | September 28 | Sixth anniversary |

The 2027 date follows the established September 28 launch anniversary. Players should check HoYoverse announcements for the official event schedule and any changes to the celebration.
What Happens During the Genshin Impact Anniversary?
The anniversary is more than a date on the calendar. It can bring special activities, gifts, and opportunities for players to collect useful resources.
However, the exact celebration changes from year to year. Not every anniversary includes the same rewards, and some activities may start before September 28 or continue after it.
Primogems and Login Rewards
Primogems are among the most valuable resources in Genshin Impact because players use them to make Wishes for characters and weapons.
Anniversary celebrations may include Primogems delivered through in-game mail or special login events. Intertwined Fates, which are used for certain limited-time character and weapon banners, may also be included in announced rewards.
For example, HoYoverse’s official announcement for the 2025 fifth-anniversary update listed 10 Intertwined Fates through a login event and 1,600 Primogems through in-game mail, alongside other rewards.
HoYoverse
That example shows why players pay attention to anniversary announcements. However, rewards from one year should not be treated as a guarantee for the next.
Special Events and Character Rewards
Anniversary periods can also feature special events, celebratory content, and opportunities to obtain valuable items.
Depending on the year’s announcements, players may encounter:
- Limited-time in-game activities.
- Login bonuses and gift mail.
- Character-related rewards.
- Special web events or community activities.
- Commemorative videos and messages.
The details depend on HoYoverse’s official plans. For that reason, it is better to confirm the available rewards for each anniversary instead of relying on rumors or old reward lists.
What Anniversary Rewards Can Players Expect?
Players commonly hope for free Primogems, Intertwined Fates, character rewards, and other useful items during the Genshin Impact anniversary.
These rewards can help free-to-play players save for their favorite characters without spending real money. They can also provide additional resources for players who already purchase in-game items.
Still, there is an important difference between possible anniversary rewards and officially confirmed rewards.
Past celebrations can provide clues about the types of gifts HoYoverse may offer, but they do not establish what every future anniversary will include. A free five-star character, a particular number of Primogems, or a special login bonus should not be assumed unless an official announcement confirms it.
For the 2026 celebration, the official sixth-anniversary commemorative video confirms the milestone. To verify specific rewards, check the relevant anniversary notices and event details rather than relying on the video alone.

If you’re preparing for the next anniversary, focus on three practical steps:
- Save Primogems and Intertwined Fates for characters you want.
- Follow official announcements for the latest event details.
- Check reward eligibility and expiration dates before claiming gifts.
These habits can help you make the most of the celebration without missing limited-time opportunities.
How to Claim Genshin Impact Anniversary Rewards
When anniversary rewards are available, claiming them is usually straightforward. However, the exact steps depend on whether the reward comes through in-game mail, a login event, a limited-time activity, or a redemption code.
Follow these steps to avoid missing rewards:
- Open Genshin Impact. Log in using the account where you want to receive the rewards.
- Check the in-game mail. Look for official messages containing anniversary gifts or reward attachments.
- Open the Events menu. Review active login events and special activities.
- Read the requirements. Some rewards require you to log in, complete a task, or meet an Adventure Rank requirement.
- Claim rewards before the deadline. Limited-time events and reward messages may expire.
- Check official notices. If a reward requires a redemption code or participation on an external event page, follow the instructions provided by HoYoverse.
HoYoverse’s Help Center explains that event requirements and rewards vary, so players should review the relevant instructions in the game’s News section under the Events tab.

Important: If you are checking for missed 2026 anniversary gifts in October, do not assume that every reward is still available. Some rewards may have expired, while other regular game activities may remain active.
Is the Anniversary Date Different From the Event Date?
Yes. The anniversary date and the anniversary event period are related, but they are not necessarily the same thing.
The anniversary date is the annual milestone marking the game’s original release. The event period refers to the dates when specific activities or rewards are available.
| Term | What it means |
| Anniversary date | September 28, marking the game’s global launch anniversary |
| Anniversary event | A limited-time celebration that may run across several dates |
| Login reward period | The dates when players can collect login bonuses |
| Reward claim deadline | The last date or time to claim a particular reward |
For example, the fifth-anniversary update in 2025 launched on September 10, before the anniversary date on September 28.

This explains why you may see anniversary-related news before September 28. It also means you should check each event’s start and end times rather than waiting until the anniversary day to participate.
