Why Is September 28 Genshin’s Anniversary?
Genshin Impact celebrates its anniversary on the date of its original global launch. The free-to-play action RPG from HoYoverse first became available worldwide on September 28, 2020.
The game invites players to explore Teyvat, a fantasy world featuring different nations, elemental combat, story quests, and collectible characters. Since its release, players have followed the Traveler’s journey through regions such as Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya.
September 28 gives the community a shared date to celebrate those adventures. HoYoverse marks the occasion through anniversary-themed activities, special announcements, and rewards that vary by year.
Keep in mind that the anniversary date and the start of a major game update are not necessarily the same. A version update can arrive before September 28, while some anniversary events can continue into October.
What Is Happening During the Genshin 6th Anniversary?
The sixth-anniversary celebrations include activities that let Travelers look back on their progress and take part in the wider community.

Sixth-Anniversary Community Events
HoYoverse has also listed a sixth-anniversary forum commenting event that runs from September 28 through October 11, 2026.
The event offers participants a chance to win Blessings of the Welkin Moon by commenting in the designated forum event. The official announcement describes it as a giveaway, so players should understand that participation does not guarantee a prize.
If you want to join, read the event rules and follow the official instructions. Because the deadline is close, check the announcement promptly rather than assuming the event will remain available throughout October.

What Rewards Can You Get During Genshin’s Anniversary?
Anniversary rewards are one of the main reasons players search for the Genshin Impact anniversary date. Depending on the year and event, rewards may include Primogems, Intertwined Fate, special gadgets, character-related rewards, or other in-game items.
However, not every anniversary event gives every player the same rewards. Some rewards come from login campaigns, others require participation in a web event, and some are available through community giveaways.
For context, HoYoverse’s official announcement for the fifth anniversary in 2025 listed a free five-star character from the Standard Wish pool, 10 Intertwined Fate through a login event, 1,600 Primogems through in-game mail, and two special gadgets, among other rewards. Those were 2025 rewards and should not be treated as a confirmed list for 2026.

For the sixth anniversary, check the specific 2026 event announcements to confirm which rewards are available and how to obtain them.
| Reward type | What to know |
| Primogems | Check the announcement for the amount and delivery method. |
| Intertwined Fate | Look for the relevant login or anniversary campaign. |
| Anniversary items | Some events may offer commemorative or special items. |
| Web event rewards | Follow the event rules and check its eligibility requirements. |
| Community prizes | Winning a giveaway is not guaranteed. |
Do not rely on old anniversary guides for current reward amounts. A guide written for 2024 or 2025 may describe rewards that no longer apply.
How to Claim Genshin Anniversary Rewards
You do not need to wait for the next anniversary to check which events are still active. Follow these steps to find current opportunities.
Step 1: Open the Official Game or HoYoLAB
Visit the official Genshin Impact website or the HoYoLAB community platform. Look for announcements that specifically mention the sixth anniversary or an active anniversary event.
Official sources are safer than unofficial reward pages that may contain expired links or misleading offers.
Step 2: Check the Event Requirements
Read the eligibility rules before participating. For example, the Anniversary Memories Album requires Adventure Rank 10 or higher.
Other activities may have different requirements, so do not assume that one event’s eligibility rules apply to every anniversary campaign.
Step 3: Participate Before the Deadline
Open the relevant event page and follow its instructions. Some events require you to log in, view your memories, complete a task, or submit a comment.
Pay attention to the event’s end date and time. An event that remains visible in an old article may already have ended.
Step 4: Check Your In-Game Mail
When an announcement says rewards will arrive through in-game mail, log in and check your mailbox. Follow any additional instructions provided by the event.
Some rewards have expiration dates. Claim them promptly, and check whether the event requires a separate redemption step.
Step 5: Verify the Reward
Confirm the item appears in your account or that the official event page recognizes your participation. Never share your password or verification codes with a third-party website promising free Primogems.
Are Genshin Anniversary Rewards Available for a Limited Time?
Yes. Many anniversary activities have specific start and end dates, and some rewards cannot be claimed after an event closes.
For example, the 2026 Anniversary Memories Album runs until October 18 at 11:59 p.m. UTC+8. The sixth-anniversary forum commenting event has an earlier deadline of October 11, 2026. These are separate activities with different deadlines.

If you are playing from the United States, remember that the official times use UTC+8. The October 18 deadline converts to October 18 at 8:59 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time and 5:59 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
That time difference matters when you plan to claim a limited-time reward. Always check the event’s displayed deadline and time zone rather than assuming it ends at midnight in your local area.
